108.31 Mb [ex] This is not Tibetan chanting. It's Chinese -- from the instrumentation to the singing style. What is Tibetan is that the mantras on this disc are quite beloved by Tibetan Buddhist practitioners. The disc is redeemed, in part, by the second track, a splendid rendition of the short Chenresig Dharani -- rarely found on any recording. The other two cuts are renditions of the most popular Tibetan-Sanskrit mantra: the Chenresig mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum." Although not authentically Tibetan, this disc may be useful for beginning meditators. It is soothing enough to be useful in samatha, or "calm-abiding" meditation.
